Robert "Bob" E. Ward, Jr., age 86 of Akron, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on December 7, 2021.
Bob was born on February 26, 1935 in Massillon, Ohio to Robert Sr. and Margaret (Mumaw) Ward. He retired from JC Penney as an operations manager and worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block. He was a dedicated Ohio State Football fan and assured his children and grandchildren were raised as Buckeyes. One of his fondest memories was when he attended the Rose Bowl in 2019 where Ohio State defeated the Washington Huskies. Bob loved to fish and work in the yard, especially planting flowers. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, William Ward, and granddaughter, Elizabeth Beres.
Bob will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 48 years, Sharon, children, R. Todd (Cindy), John, and Michael (Christy) Ward, Sherrie Walker, Susan (Mike) Jorden, and Tammy (David) Duerler, grandchildren, Bryan (Michelle) Walker, Ryan (Susie) Jorden, John David (Carole) Ward, Kristen Knight, Tiffany (Aaron) Karcher, Amanda (Camden) Sens, Nicole (Danny) Tamburro, Steven (Taylor) Jorden, and Dani Ward, 9 great-grandchildren, brother, Tom (Sandy) Ward, and sisters-in-law, Jackie (Bill) Borgen, and Judy (Darrell) Rogerson.
Friends and family may come to call on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 3-5 p.m. A service will follow at 5 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home in Akron.
