Robert (Bob) Zofchak passed away unexpectedly at his home Thursday, March 25, 2021.
Bob was born prematurely at 6 months on 7-18-1961. He only weighed 2 lbs and 11 ounces and was in the hospital for three months. The doctors thought a new oxygen therapy would be beneficial, instead, sadly this treatment gave him Cerebral Palsy. He defied the doctors' expectations of what he could accomplish by learning how to walk at age 4, albeit with extreme effort and difficulty and years of physical therapy. He was one of the first mainstreamed students in the Stow Public Schools thanks to the unrelenting efforts of his Nana who battled for this accommodation. When he was 15, he moved with his family to Brimfield.
In 1981, He graduated from Field High School where he had been a good student as well as the manager of the football team for 2 years. After graduation, Bob went to work at the family business, A to Zoff Heating & Cooling Company, where he worked as an office manager for 38 years. He enjoyed working there with his Father, his Uncle Joe, his Aunt Kathleen, his Nana, his nephew and his cousins Steve, Jeff and Michael.
Bob loved sports, all sports – he even managed to golf until he developed back issues. He had an amazing knowledge and love of sports trivia. He especially loved the sports trivia questions on Jeopardy and almost always knew the correct answer.
Hanging out with his friends was one of Bob's favorite activities, especially meeting up with his regular group for coffee at McDonalds and hanging out at Maplecrest Golf Course often socializing with Brian Irving. He enjoyed stopping at the Tallmadge Speedway to purchase lottery tickets from Miss Shirley who he adored. Other activities he enjoyed were eating out, family gatherings, and spending time with his family, especially his nephews.
Bob was a member of the Tallmadge Lutheran Church where he enjoyed attending weekly services and the monthly Wise Owl meetings.
Even though he suffered greatly with his condition, Bob never complained. He had great compassion for others and was always thinking of ways to brighten people's lives. He was an inspiration to all.
His father died in May 2020 and Bob missed him terribly.
He leaves behind mother Judy Zofchak, sisters Jill Redman (Greg) and Kristi Cabot (Doug), beloved nephews Aaron & Anders Redman, James, Ben & Thomas Cabot. Loving uncles and aunts Joe Zofchak (Judy), Kathleen Heinbuch (Dave), Bonnie Obendorf (Bill), Tom Raber. And cousins Mike (Lonnie), Jeff (Toni), Chris (Kelly), Lisa (Dan), Brian, Carl (Lisa), Paul (Susan), Anne (Mike), Cathy (Mark). Bob was preceded in death by his cousin Steve Zofchak (Donna).
We appreciate all Bob's wonderful friends – you brought a lot of joy to his life.
Dearly loved by all who knew him, our lives will never be the same. We will miss you forever.
