Rocco F. Labriola
Rocco F. Labriola "Rocky", 78, passed away April 21, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. Rocky was born Jan. 6, 1933 to the late Rocco and Lena Labriola. He lived most of his life in Copley, Ohio. He owned and operated Rocky Labriola and Sons Excavating for over 56 years. He was known for his passion for cooking and entertaining many of his friends in the "meat room" where you never left hungry. He was also famous for his homemade wine, Italian sausage, and "Rocky Peppers" that were sold at local grocery stores. Rocky was a very soft spoken, compassionate, and gentle man and will be deeply missed by all of his family and many, many friends. He was a member of the North Canton Elks and the Knights of Columbus. Rocky is survived by his loving companion of 23 years, Pat Earle and children, Gina and Angie Earle; former wife, Dolly and their children, Rose (Mike) Kobyluck, Tina Labriola (Dan Nason), Richard (Fran) Labriola, Valerie Luft, Vincent Labriola, and Gerald (Diana) Labriola; 18 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Irene (Tony) Messina; and brothers, Alfred Labriola, and Pat (Georgette) Labriola. The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all of the staff at Hospice Care Center on Ridgewood Road, Akron. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, April 26, from 3 pm to 7 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron where a service will follow at 7 pm with Pastor Steve Bucy officiating. Private burial will take place at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rocky's memory to the Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH, 44333.
