Rodger Arland Hagmaier

September 7, 1941 — March 24, 2025

Rodger Arland Hagmaier, 83, passed peacefully on March 23, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Reading, PA. Born on September 7, 1941, in Farmington, OH, Rodger was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a man of deep faith and character.

A longtime Akron resident, Rodger worked as a dedicated engineer and retired from Goodyear. Outside of work, he found joy in flying and maintaining his own airplane, working on all things mechanical, and spending time with his beloved church brethren.

Rodger was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Alene Faye (Doan) Hagmaier, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love. They were deeply devoted partners of 57 years. Devoted to one another, their family, and their faith. He missed her every day, and said he was looking forward to seeing her again in the resurrection.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Conrad and Alma Hagmaier; brother, Gene; sisters, Elaine and Cheryl. He is survived by his son, Derek (Heather) Hagmaier; grandchildren Hannah (Dan) Meister, Jacob Hagmaier; great-grandson, Oliver Meister.

He will be laid to rest in Norvell Township Cemetery near Jackson, MI, close to the cherished family farm where many memories were made.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday April 27th at 2pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, OH. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services in the funeral home (Sunday April 27th from 1-2 PM).
