Rodney P. Kennedy, Sr.
Rodney P. Kennedy Sr., 69, went home to be with the Lord on March 17, 2012.
He retired from Hudson High School as a custodian. Rodney enjoyed motorcycles, cats, CB radios, country music, and the color red. He attended The Trinity Church of God and Community of Christ Church. Rodney was well loved by all that knew him. He resided at Altercare of Cuyahoga Falls. Rodney loved the Lord, and gave graciously to TBN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Esther Kennedy; first born son, Robert John; grandparents, Arnett and Emma Lou White, and Robert and Goldie Sovil; aunts, Lenore Evetts, and Emma Jean Mills; and best friend, Sonny Pardee. Rodney is survived by the love of his life, Shelagh Kennedy; children, Rodney Kennedy Jr., Esther Curtis, and Susan Kennedy; grandchildren, Michael, Trisha, Daniel, Cody, Luke, and Brianna; brother, Douglas (fiancé Diana Taylor) Kennedy of CA; sisters, Karen (Alan) Herbert, and Denita (Horace) Young; uncle, Robert (Barb) Sovil; aunt, Bobbi Detrick, nephew, Britton Herbert; and trusted friend, Carl Knirk.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, March 20, from 5 to 8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A service will be held Wednesday, March 21, at The Community of Christ Church, 834 Grant St., Akron, at 11 am with a visitation 1 hour prior, with Rev. Patrick Barrett officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park.
