Rodney J. Sands Jr

Rodney Joseph Sands Jr., passed away peacefully on July 11, 2023 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Rodney was born on May 28, 1952 the son of the late Rodney "Joe" Joseph and Laura Pearl Sands in Akron, Ohio and then resided in Lakemore his entire life. He was one of 6 children. Rodney served as a peacemaker most of his adult life. He started at the Lakemore Police department as a patrolman, and retired as Chief. Rodney then went on to serve the Summit County Sheriff's office all the way up until his passing.
Rodney is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Margie (DePrato) Sands; daughters Ivy (Jay) and Ann; son Dustin (Cortney); and beloved namesake grandchildren, Joey and Josie.
Everyone is welcome to attend his Celebration of Life at Lakemore Methodist Church on Saturday, August 19th at 3:00pm with Pastor Laura K Sands officiating.
