Roger J. Gardner, age 88 of Mogadore went home to be with his Lord and Savior unexpectedly, but peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 22, 2021. He was born in Cuyahoga Falls on July 9, 1933, the son of the late Virgil and Mildred {Carrick} Gardner.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn (Dick) Byerly, Darlene (Ed) Selders and Ruth Fowler.
Roger will be greatly missed by his wife of 67 years, Lida; children Kimberly (Roger) Fulks and Roger (Nora Moran) Gardner; grandchildren Holly and Kelly (Charles) Steedley; great-granddaughter Lilly Wilson; sister Beverly Ackley; brother Tom Gardner.
Roger was a 1951 graduate of Mogadore High School, and went on to masonry school. He used his talents as a well-skilled brick and block layer during his 42 year career, and was a member of Brick Layer Local #7. Roger very much enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting and playing golf, and was known to "hit the lanes" from time to time with his 16 pound bowling ball. He and Lida took many trips to Florida and Canada, crating many memories along the way. One of their most memorable trips was visiting their son Roger in Europe during his U.S. Air Force deployment. He was a loving husband and father to his family, and they will miss him greatly.
A committal service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 29th in the mausoleum chapel at Hillside Memorial Park, 1025 Canton Rd. Akron, 44312, where Roger will be laid to rest. To leave a message for Roger's family, please scroll below.
