Romie D. Holcomb

December 17, 1933 — June 8, 2021

Romie D. Holcomb passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on June 8, 2021 at the age of 87.

Born in Linden, W. Va., on December 17, 1933, he was the son of Mildred and Don Holcomb and resided in Akron, Ohio since 1958. Our loving Papa will be missed but never forgotten. His service in the Korean War and hard work as a heavy equipment operator carved the kindest, most rock steady man we've ever known. He was ever calm, ever thoughtful and nurturing. We can't imagine who we'd be today without him.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Betty Jane Holcomb and his son-in-law, John Yakubik. He is survived by his daughter, Nikki Yakubik of Tallmadge, Ohio; two granddaughters Dawn (Mike) Eid of Tallmadge, Ohio and Michelle (Jerry) Mosley of Mooresville, NC; five great-grandchildren David, Haley, Adam, Cassidy and Jay; dear family friend, Mike Naylor, and many other friends and family.

A cemetery committal service will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 10:15 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd, Rittman, Ohio. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
