Ronald Edwin Berish Sr., "Ron", age 87 of Akron, Ohio, died on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Akron City Hospital.
He was born on August 20, 1934 in Akron, the son of late Andrew and Regina (nee Zawatka) Berish Sr.
Survivors include his children, Ronald Edwin Berish Jr. and Diane (Martin "Tuna") Murphy; his seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild on the way.
Other than his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his best friend, his wife, the former Dorothy Ann Hamilton, on August 29, 2018, they were united in marriage on June 26, 1954; his two sons, Phillip Berish Sr. and Michael Berish and a still born baby girl; and one brother, Andrew Berish Jr.
Ron was an honorably discharged US Marine Corporal veteran, serving during the Korean War from 1954-1957, and following the war he was a Marine reservist being discharged in March of 1962.
Mr. Berish was a member of the PLAV Post #32 for 42 years and commander of the post for 20 of those years. He owned Springfield Bait and Tackle for 14 years.
He and his late wife loved to go to the casinos and he also loved to fish.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, Ohio, where Chaplain Joseph Lee will celebrate Ron's life.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
He will be buried with his wife in Chestnut Hill Memorial Park, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
