Ronald Carl Mollohan

Ronald C. Mollohan
Our beloved husband and father, Ronald "Carl" Mollohan, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on January 9, 2011, after a courageous battle with mesothelioma. Carl was born September 13, 1941 in Enterprise, WV and moved to Akron in 1943. He married his high school sweetheart, Pat, in 1959. That same year, they started their family and Carl joined the insulation trade, where he was a dedicated worker for over 43 years. He was a member of Asbestos Workers Local 84 until 2002 when he retired and received honorary status. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #649 since 1964. During his 43 years in "the trade", Carl served on the Executive Board and assisted in organizing the Local's apprenticeship program. He took pride in his work and took his talents around the country for various jobs, including New York and Pennsylvania, where he was superintendent at two different nuclear power plants. Carl was proud to be joined in his work with a brother, two nephews, three sons, and a grandson. Carl and Pat raised 6 children and were blessed with 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren – family gatherings were a pleasure for him. He and Pat loved to travel, especially in their motor home. They saw the country together, visiting many of their favorite places as often as possible. Carl especially looked forward to traveling to Las Vegas and, in later years, to the Mountaineer where he helped pay their light bill by playing the tables. Carl was an avid camper and a member of Harrison Hills Association, where he and Pat camped for 20 years. It made him happy to help "open up" and "close down" the campgrounds for the campers, sit and relax around a campfire, cruise around in the golf cart or glide the waters in their pontoon boat. God blessed Carl with a beautiful voice, and he will sing with the angels until we meet him again. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 1 sister, and 2 grandchildren. He leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years, Patricia (Morgan) Mollohan; adoring children: Ronald C. Mollohan II (Leslie) of Germany, Michael Mollohan of East Sparta, Bruce Mollohan (Lisa) of Barberton, Kelly (Mollohan) Gabel of Canton, Tricia (Mollohan) Reece of Columbus, Scott Mollohan (Arlene) of Sebring, special son Tom Reece of Columbus, Abby, his loyal dachshund, as well as many family and friends who will miss him dearly. Calling hours will be held Thursday, January 13, from 11 am to 1 pm, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, with a service to following at 1 pm with Pastor Kim Lawrence officiating. Interment to follow at Greentown Cemetery.
