Ronald R. Conley Sr. 94, known to everyone as Bob passed away April 19, 2021. Bob was born in Akron, Ohio, son to Ralph and Laura {Burdette} Conley, but his family soon moved to Wirt Co. WV, where he would live before moving on to Gans, PA.
Leaving school in the 9th grade, Bob spent time working in the coal mines around home before leaving to join the US Navy during WWII. Bob was a Boatswains Mate aboard the USS Montour APA-101 serving in the Pacific. After the war, Bob returned to PA where he would meet his soon to be wife Frances, who passed in 2019 after 69 years together.
Bob and Frances would marry in 1950 and in 1955 moved to Mogadore, Ohio where they would spend the next 61 yrs. They raised five children there: Bob Jr.(Vicki), Debi (Bill) Bookman, Gerrie (Gary) Mollohan, Don and Richard (Jodie). The family would continue to grow with grandchildren Gia, Brandy (Adam), Rachel (Matt), Billy (Lisa), Cory, Matthew, Mandy (CC), DJ and Dalton. As well as great- grandchildren John (Anna), Ella, Justin, Ryley, Ysabel (Dylan), Lily, Mason, Shana, Delaney and Jack and great-great-grandchildren Kaitlin and Dahlia.
Bob was a proud member of the Carpenter's Union Local 639. He spent many years working as a carpenter first with his own home improvement company then Ruhlin, Carmen and Forest City-Dillon.
Bob retired from Forest City-Dillon 1989. He spent his free time at his cabin in WV hunting and enjoying the outdoors with his children, grandchildren, lifelong friends and extended family. During his long retirement, Bob could also be found in his garage/workshop designing and making knives, beautiful walking sticks and canes, restoring hunting rifles and generally living by the rule "don't buy what you can make", sometimes constructing the very nuts and bolts used in his numerous ongoing projects. When he wasn't in his shop or WV he could be found sitting on his front porch having a dip of Grizzly and happy to have anyone stop and talk awhile! You will be missed!
We would like to thank the staff at Harbor Lights Hospice, Dan, Jamie, Rebecca, Melanie and Joey for the loving care and respect they showed our father and our sister Debi with whom dad lived with the last few years.
Friends and family are welcome to visit on Tuesday, April 27 from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the 12:00 noon service at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron.
