Ronald Oxley
Ronald Oxley, 92, of Akron, passed away May 27, 2008. Ronald was born February 17, 1916 in Griffithsville, West Virginia. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1944-1946. Ronald worked in many fields throughout his life. He was a machinist and a mechanic in industry and at Akron University. He also taught mechanical skills in the Akron Public school system. He was a licensed pilot and flight instructor. Ronald belonged to the Experimental Aircraft Association #147 and spent many hours building planes for himself and others. He was also a talented musician and played the guitar, banjo, and ukelele. He was a longtime HAM radio operator. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, D.W. and Ealia Oxley and son, Gary Alan "Butch" Oxley. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Beatrice; sons, Ron and Steven; sister, Eloise Clark; nieces, Marjorie and Kathryn; grandson, Jonathan; step-grandchildren, Tambra, Sasha, and Kegan; several step-great-grandchildren; special nephew, Gregory Morgan; and many other relatives and friends. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Franklin Cemetery in Branchland, West Virginia.
