Ronald Ray "Mac Ron" Rowan Jr.

Ronald Ray Rowan Jr., born June 8, 1972, passed away November 17, 2024. He is the son to Ronald Ray Rowan Sr. and Ophelia Rowan. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio and at the age of 4 moved to Akron, Ohio with his family. 

Ronnie graduated from East High School and Stark State College with an Associate of Applied Science, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving as a combat veteran in Southwest Asia during the first Gulf War. Ronnie earned several decorations during his service, including the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Kuwait Liberation Medal Rifle M16, and Hand Grenade Expert. 

Ronnie enjoyed helping friends and neighbors when there was trouble with the HVAC system in their homes. He operated his own business Golden Choice Heating and Cooling LLC. 

Ronnie enjoyed being at barbeques and taking in nature riding his sling with his buddies and fellow sling riders; "Mac Ron" will be remembered. His love and generosity to his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers and sister had no limit. He always remembered his mother and father on birthdays and special occasions. Most of all, God put him in the right place and time to save a man's life- a complete stranger.

Ronnie leaves to cherish his memory children Taneeya Cooper, Ronnie T. Rowan, Jasmine Rowan, all of Akron, OH and Ronnie Marshay Kirkland of Canton, OH; parents Ronald Sr. and Ophelia Rowan; sister Valeria (Junior Simpson) Rowan of Akron, OH; brothers Joseph J. Rowan of Las Vegas, NV and DaShaun Dunn of Akron, OH; nieces Mia and Michala; nephew Marquice; 10 great-nieces and -nephews; uncle William Lynn of Akron, OH; aunt Dorothy (Dewain Green) of Asheville, NC; and a host of cousins. Mac Ron enjoyed being with his best friend Zebedee Moultry, and very good friends Larry Glover, Delricko Ramsey, Martin Greenwade, Robert Jones and Bruce. 

Family and friends are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305 on Friday, November 29, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 12:00 p.m. with Minister Valeria Rowan. Interment will follow the service at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, where military honors will be held, and Ronnie will be laid to rest.
