Rose C. Braghieri
Rose C. Braghieri, 86, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2004, at the Hospice Care Center. She was born August 26, 1918, in Denver, CO. and grew up in Windber PA and lived in Akron for more than 60 years. Mrs. Braghieri was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Akron, St. Anne Ladies Guild and Grandmothers Club, VFW Maines Post 1070 and Cuyahoga Falls Eagles. She and her husband enjoyed gardening and in 1978, she was named Watermelon Champion in the Akron Beacon Journal "Grow 'Em Big" contest. She served as conductress and president of the VFW ladies auxiliary being named President of the Year. She was also honored for her numerous hours volunteering at the former Veterans Hospital in Brecksville. She also loved playing BINGO at Annunciation and St. Michael churches.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Frank Braghieri in 1988; brothers, Pete, Frank, Alex,and Raymond Tantorno; and sisters, Josephine Monzi and Mary Connor. She leaves her daughter, Linda (Russell) Baer of Tallmadge; grandchildren, Brian (Sheila) Baer of Atwater, Lisa (Josh) Chapman of Wadsworth and Jeffrey Baer of Tallmadge; great-grandchildren, Kyle Baer of Atwater and Elizabeth Chapman of Wadsworth; brothers, Michael (Pauline) Tantorno of Akron, Fred and Joe Tantorno of Windber PA, and Robert Tantorno of CA; sister, Catherine Tantorno of Windber PA; sister-in-law, Julia Braghieri of Cuyahoga Falls; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Friday from 6 - 8 p.m. at NEWCOMER-FARLEY FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church, 87 Broad St., Akron with prayers at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Burial at Hillside Memorial Park.
