Rose Marie Moss-Fields departed this life on August 20, 2021 at the age of 77. Rose was born in Akron, Ohio to parents Bessie Mae (Ernest) Idley and Willie Homer (Lucy) Johnson on March 14, 1944. She attended Akron Public Schools, was employed by the Recycling Plant and performed Energy Audits for the East Akron Community House. She was also a foster care provider. Rose worked for Special Pack Inc. and made a fixture to enhance their production.
Rose enjoyed being an Eastern Star, volunteering for Open M, and running several operations of the South Side Reunion. She was a "Master" Bingo Player who loved hand dancing and bowling. Rose was very energetic and spontaneous and was the life of the party. She had kind words for everyone and always showed compassion with her uplifting spirit. Rose protected and loved every child she came in contact with. She believed in living in the moment and enjoying life. She lived life on her own terms and never tired out or gave up.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd Fields; grandson, Ja'Shon Lee Moss; sisters, Glenna (Albert) Allen, Faith (Waymon) Greer, and Darnell Huff. She is survived by children, Willie Michael (Symphanie), Shawn (LaMonica) and Twila Moss; grandchildren, Diarre, Shawn Jr, Ja'Vonne, LaCheyne, Shamar, Niya, Iyna, and Ayin Moss, Tanqueray Hollis, LaShannon and LaNyse Kelly, Robert Hammond; 16 great grandchildren; sisters, Venus Johnson and Beverly Panther and a host of other friends and family who loved her dearly.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 27, 2021, at 10 a.m., at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio 44305. Final viewing will conclude promptly at Noon when service begins. Interment will follow at Mount Peace Cemetery, followed by Repass at Lawton Street Community Center.
