Rosemary E. Kissel, 80, entered into God's Kingdom on September 5, 2023. She was born in Akron, Ohio, on February 8, 1943, to the late Mary (nee Gerencser) and Michael Dudock.
Rosemary was a lifetime resident of Akron's North Hill neighborhood, where she graduated from North High School and met her loving husband, John. They created wonderful memories filled with love for each other over their 60 years of marriage. She was a devout Catholic who attended Visitation of Mary Parish and worked at Akron General Medical Center for over 25 years.
Rosemary was a beautiful woman inside and out who greeted each person she met with a smile that radiated warmth. She was full of life and loved music, dancing, the ocean, traveling with her family around the country, and decorating her big Christmas trees. As a devoted mother and proud grandma who cherished being active in her children's and grandchildren's lives, she chaired school fundraisers and volunteered for scouting and parish events. As a young woman, she used her eloquence to serve her parish as a lector at Mass. She delighted in holiday celebrations and cooking for her family-especially her famous manicotti, which no one has yet to master. Rosemary led by example and taught her children and grandchildren what it means to be charitable, humble, and loving.
Our hearts are broken as we say goodbye to Mom, who joins Dad just seventeen days after his passing. We are better people for having her as our mom and the world was made better by having her for eighty years.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John R. Kissel Sr., and her sister Eleanor Redmond.
She will be dearly missed by her sons John R. Kissel Jr. and Michael Kissel; daughter Andrea (John) Conti; grandsons Zachary Conti and Anthony Conti; sisters and brothers-in-law Jane (Sonny) Moore and Joni (Dan) Barry; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 14 at Visitation of Mary Parish, 55 Broad St, Akron. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
