AKRON--Roy Eugene Higgins, 63, died Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Akron General Medical Center, following a brief illness. Born in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina to Roy U. and Ethel Higgins on January 22, 1945. The family moved to Ohio in 1950 where he remained a lifelong resident of Akron. A graduate of East High School and retired from North East Tire Mold. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, avid Cleveland Browns fan, and supporter of all Ohio team sports. He leaves his beloved and devoted wife, Judy, whom he celebrated 43 years of marriage; his son and daughter-in-law, John and April Higgins; his daughter Cynthia Higgins; his three sisters, Clara (James) Ferri, Margie (David) Kime, and Shirley (Jeff) Cobb; his aunts of North Carolina, Lolene Stinson, Lula Belle Steele, and Etta Mae Johnson; many nieces and nephews; many friends and neighbors; and his beloved pet Rusty. A special thank you to friends Diane and Dale Perry for all their kindness and generosity. Family and friends may call Thursday, 12-1 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., with a funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
