Roy E. Harrison

Roy E. Harrison, 88, passed away on May 26, 2022. He was born on January 7, 1934 the son of the late Leavert and Marie Harrison. Roy proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines. He retired after many dedicated years of service from the State of Ohio Department of Transportation. He and his wife were in a Blue Grass band called the Pine Ridge Ramblers where they enjoyed singing and playing his guitar to many beloved fans. He always had a guitar in his hand. He loved shooting pool and playing poker with friends. Roy was well known to friends and family as a gentle, kind-hearted, hard worker, always having much love in his heart and caring for others. He will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Joe Harrison; and siblings Edward Harrison, Larry Harrison, Edna Timberlake, and Cora Haywood.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Phyllis M. Harrison; children Barbara (Keith) Casto, David (Sharon) Harrison, Michael (Debbie) Harrison, and Trena (Nancy) Harrison; daughter-in-law Pam Harrison; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Gary Harrison; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron) where services will be held at 11:00 AM with Trena Harrison officiating.
Interment will take place at Tallmadge Cemetery.
