Roy L. Lively, 92 of Akron passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024.
He was born in Kingston, WV on April 29, 1931 to the late Daniel and Stella {Coleman} Lively.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years Margaret in 2016, brothers Erskine, Andrew, Melvin and Lowell; sisters June, Maurel and Judy Lane.
Roy was a proud United States Marine, serving during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge, he began his career with Rockwell International, where he was Union President for over 25 years. He was a special Deputy Sheriff for Summit Co. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting trips with his family.
Roy always had a love for music, and played steel guitar on WOAY radio in Oak Hill, WV when he was only 15 years old. He also had his own TV show on WJAN TV Channel 17 in 1970. He enjoyed playing country music at the Music Barn, going to casinos, playing cards (especially poker), and spending time with family and friends.
Roy is survived by his children Shara (Robert) Daniel, Teresa (Dan Brown) Lively, Roger (Lisa) Lively, James (Suzann) Lively, Lynda (Bill) Abbott; honorary daughter Sheila (Ed) Nelson; grandchildren Rob, Eric, Amy, Steven and Joseph; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers Roma (Judy) Lively and Darrell (Delores) Lively; brother-in-law Jim Sheets; sister-in-law Patsy Lively; many nieces and nephews.
Per Roy's wishes, cremation has taken place, and he will be laid to rest with Margaret at Hillside Memorial Park, Akron. Private military honors will be held for his family.
