Ruby Jean Sparks

Ruby Jean Sparks, 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 24, 2018. She was born in Akron on October 19, 1934 to the late Gordon and Bessie Jackson. Ruby resided at the Mayflower in downtown Akron for over 20 years. Ruby was a longtime member of the VFW Mains Post 1070 Auxiliary. In her free time, she liked playing the lottery and doting on her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her brother, Earl Jackson; sister, Betty Taylor; and daughter and caregiver, Tammy Zarle. She will be deeply missed by her children, Kathy (Mike) Ball, Eddie Rhodes, Cindy Wills, and Bobby Sparks Jr.; grandchildren, Kara (Brian) Zidar, Michael (Kara) Ball, Samantha Wills, Ashley (Phil) Powell, Stevie Zarle, Bobbi Lynn Rhodes, Brandon Sparks, and Zachary Sparks; three great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Jackson; many nieces, nephews, and friends; and beloved dog, Ginger. Per Ruby's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Ruby's life will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the VFW Mains Post 1070, 641 E. Tallmadge Ave., Akron, OH 44310. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association via www.alz.org or the VFW Mains Post 1070.
