Russell R. "Russ" Allrutz

Russell R. "Russ" Allrutz, 87, passed away April 15, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Akron, Ohio to Michael and Clara (Cerra) Allrutz, he resided in the Akron area as well as Lakeland, Florida. Russ was the co-founder and director of Chapparells Baton & Drum Corp for 50 years. He also enjoyed his Sunday late evening casino trips, traveling with the Chapparells, watching and playing golf, bowling, cheering for the Buckeyes, Browns, Cavs and Guardians, attending the sporting events of his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Russ was preceded in death by his son, Mark; brother, Dennis Allrutz; in-laws, Harold and Geraldine Duke; his precious and spoiled little Diva, his Dachshund. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 69 years, Carol; children, David Allrutz, Susan (Michael) Combs, Laura Taylor (Ron Glover); grandchildren, Alan, Jennifer (Eddie), Lisa (Danny), Clay (Jessica), Brandon, Mark Jr., Sara, Ray, Clara, Ashley; numerous great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson.

Family and friends are invited to visit Monday, April 21, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The funeral service will take place Tuesday, April 22 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Those who wish may make memorial donations to the American Lung Association or the charity of their choice.
