Russell E. Fresh, Sr.
Russell E. Fresh, Sr., 80, of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side after battling COPD for years. He was born August 23, 1931 to John and Lucy Fresh who also preceded him in death along with brother, Richard and sister, Bernice. Russell proudly served his country in the Army and Navy during the Korean War. He retired from the City of Akron after 28 years of service and was a standing member of the American Legion Post #566.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 59 years, Gladys; children, Vickie (Joe) Franjesh, Russell Jr. (Tammy) Fresh, Sheila Workman, and Tina (Jim) Garland; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; another great-grandchild expected in October; 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Also a special thanks to Katrina, Sue, and Lisa of Hospice.
Family and friends may call TODAY April 19 from 4-9 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Kevin Angel officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park with military honors provided by American Legion Post #566.
