Russell James Haupt Sr.

May 18, 1937 — December 27, 2024

Russell James Haupt, Sr., age 87, of Tallmadge, Ohio, born on May 18, 1937, in Akron, Ohio, departed this world on December 27, 2024, serenely in the comfort of his home. He was a steadfast presence in the lives of those who knew him, a beacon of love and pride for his cherished family.

A celebrated Union Carpenter Journeyman with an impressive 55 years of service, Russell was known for his meticulous craftsmanship and unwavering dedication to his trade. His hands, skillful and strong, both built structures and held his family close. A graduate of East High School, he carried the lessons of hard work and resilience throughout his life, instilling these values in his beloved children.

Affectionately dubbed "Happy," Russell radiated positivity and joy. He never met a stranger. His vibrant personality shone through in his numerous interests; whether he was picking up sticks in his yard or enjoying a sunny day on the golf course, he embraced life with a spirited heart. Campfires under the stars while camping, cruising the snowy slopes skiing, or cherishing memories made with loved ones while traveling were but a few of the ways he reveled in the beauty of life.

Russell served honorably in the Army National Guard, a testament to his commitment to his country and community. His active participation in his church, Tallmadge Bible Church, highlighted not only his faith but also his deep-seated desire to contribute positively to the world around him.

Russell's legacy lives on through his beloved wife of 60 years, Patricia, whose bond with him was a testament to enduring love. Together, they nurtured a family that filled their home with laughter and warmth. He is survived by his devoted daughters, Diane (William) Spidle and Beth (Jennifer) Haupt, and his son, Russ Jr. (Becky) Haupt; four grandchildren Michael Fisher, Justin Fisher, Spencer Haupt and Ryan Haupt; and two great-grandchildren Chloee Fisher and Paxton Fisher who carry forward the spark of his spirit, forever illuminated by the values he instilled in them. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Daniels.

While the loss is profound, Russell's memory will forever linger in the hearts of those he loved. He leaves behind a legacy crafted from compassion, pride in his family, and the sheer joy of life itself. His gentle demeanor and unwavering support touched many, making a lasting impact that will echo through generations. Though he has departed from this earthly realm, his essence remains a guiding light to those left behind.

A memorial service in his church will be announced at a future date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
