Russell W. Peterson

Russell W. "Russ" "Rusty" Peterson of Portage Lakes passed away Tuesday March 3, 2020 in his home after a long battle with declining health.

Russ, a Coventry Comet alumni was known for his numerous baseball records set at Coventry High school. He set many pitching records for the Comets in the 70s that stood for many years. He enjoyed watching, playing, coaching and teaching about all things sports to anyone who would listen. He was also a huge music fan, he spent countless hours cranking up the classics while singing and dancing around the house, always entertaining his friends and family. What Russ was best known for though was being a great husband, father and grandfather. He was a family man who loved and cherished all his time spent with his loved ones.

Russ is proceeded in death by his father Donald, mother Joanne and brother David. He is survived by his wife Sherry Peterson, daughter Christine Peterson (Kevin Mash), sons Jason Osborne (Melissa) and Michael Peterson. He has 4 beautiful grandchildren that he was so proud of, Jaylen, Maddie, Michael and Isabelle.

A celebration of life will be held at Coventry Senior Center 335 Willowview Dr. Akron,OH 44319 on Wednesday March 11, 2020 from 4:00pm-8:00pm. Dinner and refreshments will be provided.
