Russell T. Pfautz, 70, of Akron, passed away March 13, 2012. He was born on April 7, 1941 to the late Russell and Dorothy. Russ graduated from Ellet High School in 1959 and served our country in the Navy.
He retired from Goodyear after 27 years. Within a year he opened Grandpa's Sports and Gaming Cards trading and selling for the next 25 years with his constant companions, Abby and Maddie Mae. Russ was an avid sports fan and supported all of Ellet youth sports. Many special times were spent with the Roy Hobbs 30 and Over and Open Division men's baseball team, sponsoring Grandpa's "A's".
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patty.
Russ is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Bonnie; children, Kellie, Shellie (Jack) Wadsworth, Tommy (Christina); grandchildren, Ryan Westren, Christy (Jon) Vargo, Jack and Josh Wadsworth, Benjamin Thomas Pfautz; great-grandson, Austin Ryan Vargo; brothers, Dan, Larry (Debbie), Jerry (Cindy), Mike (Robin); sisters, Donna (Larry) Buehler, Becky (Jeno) Berube; numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins; special friends, David Sees, Jimmy Payerle, Jim Murphy (Murph) and all his friends at the Scoreboard and the Old President's Lounge.
Many special thanks to Dr. Ester Rehmus, her staff, all the special care people on 5400 and 3200 Akron General and the McDowell Cancer Center.
Family and friends may call on Saturday March 17 from 11-3 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will follow at 3 PM.
