Russell A. Taylor

Russell A. Taylor, 86, of Ravenna, went home to be with the Lord on June 13, 2023. He was born on January 13, 1937 in Akron and was raised in Rootstown by his parents, the late Samuel and Flavia Taylor. Russ obtained his pilot license in the mid eighties and owned a Cessna 172 for several years before upgrading to a Cessna 182. He enjoyed over twenty years of flying to various locations on the east coast. He also loved to restore classic cars. He was the owner of Portage Crane Service for several decades with his son, John Taylor. He was a longtime member of Liberty Bible Church.
Russ will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 66 years, Margaret "Peg" Taylor; children, Laura (Greg) Sherwood, John (Cheryl) Taylor, Judy (Rick) White; grandchildren, Jennifer (Patrick) Molony, Megan Feldt, Nicole Sherwood, Curtis (Gwendolyn) Taylor, Zachary (Rachel) Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Emily White (Jeremy Tosenberger), David White; great-grandchildren, Grace Molony, Layne Taylor, Psalm Taylor; brother, Dwain Stillwell; nephew, Don "JR" Stillwell; niece, Toni Parker.
Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 from 5-8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 21 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation for one hour prior at Liberty Bible Church, 2215 State Route 183, Atwater, OH 44201. Interment at Grandview Memorial Park.
