Ruth Davis (Nana Ruth Fields)
Ruth Davis was born July 28, 1918 in Honaker, Virginia to Aaron and Alta Thomas Fields. She passed away December 10, 2007 at the age of 89. She was married to Adelbert Nathan Davis of Akron in 1936. He preceded her in death on July 20, 1982. She is survived by their five sons, Gene, of Antioch, California, Gary of Orange Park, Florida, Donald of Omaha, Missouri, and Carl and Dennis, both of Cuyahoga Falls. Ruth is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren. Her parents, brothers, and sisters moved from Iaeger, West Virginia to Summit County in the early 1920s. Her sole surviving sibling from a family of ten children is her younger sister, Marguerite Axline of Akron. Ruth lived in Clearwater, Florida from 1979 to 2002 before returning to Cuyahoga Falls. She enjoyed painting, dancing, travel, flowers, and time with her family. She will be remembered for her sense of humor. Her grandchildren fondly remember the fun they had with her during their early years. For several years she was a hospital volunteer. She especially enjoyed reminiscing about the years when she raised her children on Austin Avenue in Akron. Visitation will be Friday from 1-3 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. followed by interment at Hillside Memorial Park at 3:30 p.m.
