RUTH EDITH PETTY


Ruth "Shorty" E. Petty (nee Duncan), 81, of Ravenna, Ohio, passed away October 2, 2001 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. She will fondly be remembered for her loyalty to family ties, values, work ethic, and many talents as a seamstress, cook, crafting projects and kindness to helping others in need. Born and raised in Tullahoma, Tennessee, she lived in the Akron area for 25 years with her family having returned again two years ago after living in Tavares, Florida for 15 years.

Preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Lee Edward Petty, she is survived by son Jerry (Norma) Petty of Akron; daughters Sandi (Don) Osborne of Ravenna and Charlotte Semick of Akron; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters Nell Freeman, Nealy Buzonik, Lenore Lindemann, Lil Waggoner, Juanita (Jerry) Long; brother Bill Duncan; 29 nieces, nephews and many friends.

The family will receive friends at NEWCOMER-FARLEY FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. TONIGHT from 6 - 8 p.m. Burial will take place in Tullahoma, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to American Diabetes Association, 1815 W. Market St., Ste. 108, Akron OH 44313 or Lustgarten Research Center for Pancreatic Cancer, 111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage NY 11714.
