Ruth Evelyn Smith, 85, surrounded by her loved ones, went home to be with the Lord on March 1, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Donald E.; grandson, Lance Wargo; son-in-law, Karl Lange; and daughter-in-law, Carol Smith. Ruth is survived by her children, Kathleen N. Smith, Donald H. Smith, Robert A. Smith, Ruth A. (Glenn) Park, John M. Smith, Doris M. Lange, and Mark E. (Mandy) Smith; grandchildren, Paula, Lisa, Laura, Diana, Melissa, Jacob, Matthew, Deona, Christina, and James; 7 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Nellie and Marie. Calling hours will be held Friday, March 4, from 5 to 8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a service will be held Saturday, March 5, at 11 am. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
