Ruth Mary Harbert, 81, passed away on August 9, 2024, peacefully surrounded by family. She was born in Akron on December 20, 1942, to the late George and Margaret Kreitz. Ruth retired from U.S. Bank. She was a member Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Ruth loved walking, especially through the metro parks in NE Ohio. Above all, she was a beloved grandmother, and her grandchildren were everything to her. Ruth was very giving and kind hearted. She enjoyed helping others during hard times.
Ruth is survived by her children Jim (Brenda) Harbert, Steve (Mary) Harbert, Kathy (Mike) Greenwood, and Jackie Amos; grandchildren Roger (Heather) Harbert, Crissy Garrett, James (Kari) Harbert II, Rachel Greenwood, James Greenwood, David Greenwood, Anna Greenwood, Julianna (Mike) O'Brien, Patrick (Vyshnavi) Rado, Olivia Rado, Ben Rado, and Chloe Rado; and numerous great-grandchildren; siblings Jeanne Ebie, Suzanne Yerkey, Philip (Mary Beth) Kreitz, Lynn (Marty) Meilinger, Mark (Mary Lou) Kreitz; and a host of nieces, nephews and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Kenneth Kreitz, son-in-law Gary Amos, brother-in-law John Yerkey.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Newcomer Funeral Home with Fr. Michael Matusz officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Hillside Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Charities. The family would like to thank Traditions Hospice and Sunrise of Cuyahoga Falls staff for the wonderful care Ruth received.
