Sally J. Shahan, age 69 of Springfield Township, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday April 27, 2016 at Akron City Hospital.
She was born in Akron on November 13, 1946, the daughter of her late step-father, Robert Cumpston and her late mother, Josephine Neville Cumpston.
Sally was a 1964 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School and was a financial clerk with 1st Merit Bank where she retired after 25 years. She enjoyed southern gospel music, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon A. "Butch" Shahan, whom she married on July 18, 1964; her children, Tracey (Bill) McCrea, Kimberly (Jim) Cole, and Jaclyn (Stan) Darrah; 8 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Frank (Debbie) Cumpston, Robert (Brenda) Cumpston, and Wendy (Dave) Peterson.
Other than her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Charles Cyrus Hughes ; and her sister, Dolly Jean Wiles.
Funeral services will be held at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron at 1:00 PM, Monday, May 2, 2016 where Pastor Jack Pancher will celebrate Sally's life.
Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM.
