Samuel Lee Lowther, 74, of Akron, passed away April 3, 2012. He was born in Worthington, WV on September 23, 1937 to the late Melville and Mella Lowther. Sam retired from Goodyear Aerospace after 37 years of service. He was an Air Force veteran, a trustee and faithful member of the Chapel of Prayer Baptist Church for 25 plus years.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Vera June Hardway and four grandchildren.
Sam is survived by his "Woman" wife of 53 years, Shelby; favorite beagle pals, Lucy and Sadie; wonderful children, sons, Jody (Bobbie), Michael (Wanda), David (Jenny); daughter, Kathy (Al) Vanderhoff; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren who are very near and dear to his heart.
Family and friends may call on Friday, April 6, from 3:30 - 6:30 NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., and from 11-12 on Saturday, April 7, at Chapel of Prayer Baptist Church, 1811 Brittain Rd., Akron, where funeral services will be held at 12 noon with Associate Pastor, David Lowther and Sr. Pastor, Sherman Bailey officiating. Burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
