Samuel E. Thomas, "Sam", age 71 of Akron, Ohio, died on January 23, 2021 at Akron City Hospital.
He was born on November 23, 1949 in Akron, the son of the late Willie D. Thomas Sr. and Earnestine (nee Stephens) Carey.
Sam loved being with his family and friends. He always kept up on the news.
Survivors include his loving daughters, Nyree Lewis and Chanel (Andre Vinson) Lewis; his son, Dennis Lewis; his loving granddaughters, Laneece, Aliyah and Cachet; his loving grandsons, De'Anta, Dahaven, Andre Jr. and Chanese; his very special great-granddaughters, Lenai and Lanai; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
His siblings also survive, Carolyn Thomas, Willie (Linda) Thomas, Clark Dale Thomas, Jacqueline Thomas and Joyce Thomas.
Other than his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his two brothers, Ernest Thomas Sr. and Milton J. Carey.
Family and friends may visit on Monday, February 1, 2021 from 12:00 - 1:30 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, Ohio, a private funeral service will follow.
