Samuel Anthony Williams, Sr., "Sam", age 70 of Akron, Ohio, died on June 21, 2019 at his home.
He was born on August 15, 1948 in Compton, California, the son of the late Russell Arthur and Marion (nee Tomsello) Williams.
Sam enjoyed car shows and especially classic cars. He was a big music buff. Sam owned and operated Sam's Towing here in Akron. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Sam served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his children, Barbara J. Coulter, Samuel A. (Tracey) Williams Jr., Russell H. (Misty) Williams Sr., Brandi (Brian) Miller, and Toni (Dennis) Sampsel; his grandchildren, Sia, Anthony, John, Russell (Megan) Jr., Nicolette, Brandyn, Alex, Karis, Jacob, and Alyssa; and his great-grandson, Tobias. His sister, Barbara (James) Sullivan is also surviving.
Sam was preceded in death by his wife, the former Gloria Sullivan on July 28, 2013, they were united in marriage on September 20, 1966; his daughter, Cindy Williams; and one sister, Margaret Neese.
There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 3:00 PM at the home of his daughter, Toni at 6832 Hampsher Road, New Franklin, Ohio.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Newcomer Funeral Home, Akron.
