Sarah V. "Sally" Pope

Sarah V. "Sally" Pope, age 84, of New Franklin, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2024 at Pebble Creek Nursing Home. She was born on July 29, 1939 to the late Lester and Laura Mercer in Wheeling, WV.

Sally worked as a registered nurse for Breckenridge Hospital in Austin, TX for 16 years and Akron Children's Hospital for 23 years before her retirement. She also spent 4 years teaching nursing. 

She enjoyed square dancing and crocheting. She belonged to a couple different square dancing groups in Texas and Ohio. 

Sally is survived by her loving daughter, Teresa (Michael) Kish; sons, Jimmy (Debra) and Donnie (Jessie) Pope; grandchildren, Shannon Kish, Crystal (Ricky) Fetzer and Adam and Andy Pope; great-grandchildren, Anela and Kaedence Kish and Logan and Aydin Fetzer; and siblings, Russell Mercer and Mary Jean Gibson.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by five siblings, David, John, Paul and Dan Mercer and Judy Sanetrik.

Per Sally's wishes, cremation has taken place and there are no formal services planned for this time.
