Savella Washington, age 83, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on Monday, June 10th, 2019.
Savella, affectionately known as Mickey, was born in Crawfordsville, Arkansas, and moved to Ohio in her youth. After giving birth to her three children, Savella began to experience mental illness which allowed her to live most of her life in a constant state of childlike wonder. She loved trying projects with yarn, working on latch-hook rugs, and coloring. Occasionally, little bits of knowledge came out in conversation that helped us see the life she used to have. Savella will be missed by those who had the joy of knowing her.
Savella was preceded in death by her parents, George and Nellie Washington; sister, Georgia Grimmage; daughter, Karen Cox; grandson Oyejiuwa Agbo; and nephews Herbert Adams and Danny Thomas.
Left to mourn her passing are children, Jerry (Deborah) Washington and Althea Washington-Barnett (Cecil Bowman) of Akron, Ohio; sister, Ora Lee Hunter of Moses Lake, Washington; grandchildren, Zaina (Peter) Brown of Leesburg, VA, TaShaunda Washington of Miami Beach, FL, Britany Washington (Steve Saunders) of Brimfield, Ohio, and Ned Agbo, Grace Agbo, and Rebecca Cox, all of Akron; great-grandchildren Shiyla Agbo, TreyV-air Moore, Jeremiah "CJ" Hollinger, Anaya and Nyala Ennis, Journey and Jaxson Singleton, Kyren Cox, and Brooklyn Saunders, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank Hickory Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the dedicated staff who took special care of Savella during her nine years in their facility.
