Scott Francis Whitford

Scott F. Whitford, 59, of Akron, went to be with the Lord on April 23, 2020. He was born on November 19, 1960 in Akron, Ohio to Paul and Mary Whitford (Gigac). Scott loved working with his hands and building things. He worked for over 40 years as a carpenter, at one time owning Whitford Contracting Services LLC. He was a talented guitar player and pianist, and loved all kinds of music. Scott also enjoyed watching NASCAR in his free time. He spent many years racing at the Barberton Speedway, winning many trophies with his prized car, Blackbird '69.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary Whitford; step-father, Paul Gigac; brother, Paul Joseph Whitford Jr.; niece, Cynthia Hubler; nephews, Anthony R. Weakland and James E. Wilson; great-nephew, John Paul Hubler; and parents-in-law, Robert and Jean Evans.

He will be deeply missed by his sons, Scott Matthew Whitford (Jessica) and Jacob Joseph Whitford (Leah); grandchildren, Faith, Sebastian, Ty and Court; sisters, Sylvia Kline, and Carol Whitford (Clark); niece, Sherry Bitecofer and Diana (Bob) Bergdorf; nephew, Mark Puett; Judith Long; many other family members and friends; and his dog, Gypsy.
