Sebastian Matthew Appleby

Sebastian Matthew Appleby, age 19, passed away tragically and suddenly sometime during the early morning hours on Monday 05/06/2024. Sebastian had a brilliant mind and was looking forward to attending Akron University in the fall on a merit scholarship for business and accounting and was a proud member of the carpenters union.
Sebastian was a true lover of life, art, anime, gaming, music, and his "Cora Dog". But above all else he loved his family and close friends. Sebastian moved through life with a sense of kindness, compassion, and generosity of spirit of someone well beyond his 19 years. If he called you a friend he meant it and would stop at nothing to help you in any way he possibly could. To those lucky individuals I want to leave you with Sebastian's favorite Beatles lyric:

He is survived by his mother Heather (Erik) Matonak; father Andrew (Jane Davis) Smolen; siblings Giovanni, Lucia, Damien, Juliana, Serenity, Corinne; maternal grandparents Carol Carmack and Paul (Donna Jennings) Appleby, Lynn Myers; paternal grandparents David and Lynn Smolen, and Patty Porter; aunts and uncles Matthew (Crystal) Appleby, Freddy Carmack, Sophia Appleby, Andrew Appleby, Justin (Heather) Smolen; cousins Jacob Appleby, Paul, Mark and James Appleby, and Everett Smolen; great uncle Ken (Nancy) Schoener other relatives and friends including Alex Hockman and Mckenna Engelhart. Preceded in death by grandfather Melvin "Pop-Pop" Myers and great-aunt Dale.

Visitation will be held Saturday 2-4 PM on May 18th at Newcomer Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will begin Saturday at 4 PM on May 18 in the funeral home.

Memorials may be extended to his siblings.
