Sharon Louise Gionest, age 75 of Akron, Ohio, died on May 17, 2022 after a battle with cancer.
She was born in Akron on March 27, 1947, the daughter of the late Theodore Ralph and Helen Virginia (nee Mathena) Landaker Sr., who was President of the Derby Downs in the '60s, whom Sharon was very proud of this fact about her father.
Sharon was a homemaker, who always put her husband and children first. Sharon was a very good cook, loved watching sports and was a very good mommy!
Survivors include her loving husband, Rev. Edward Mario Gionest, whom she married on February 14, 1976; her children, Cynthia Louise Renner, Larry (Michelle) Box, David (Dominique) Gionest and Rachelle Marie (Mark Shaffer) Hurley and her step-daughter, Jodie Ann (John) Dix; eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
Sharon also has a brother, Theodore Ralph (Patrice) Landaker Jr of Orlando, Florida.
Other than her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kimberly Box; her son-in-law, David Renner; and her brothers, Jack Landaker and Daniel Landaker.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at 4:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, Ohio, where Dr. Roderick Pounds will celebrate Sharon's life.
Family and friends may visit from 2:00 - 4:00 PM on Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Following all services Sharon will be cremated and her cremated remains will be placed in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.
