Shelley A. Allen, 48, of Akron, passed surrounded by her family and friends on December 19, 2018 after a very long battle with cancer.
Shelley was an amazing human being who greatly impacted everyone who knew her. She was an outgoing woman who always put others before herself and who would do anything for anyone. She had a smile that could light up a room. She enjoyed playing and watching sports. Her favorites included soccer, basketball, softball, and rugby. She adored watching her nieces and nephews play ball and bowl. Shelley loved to ride her motorcycle any chance she got. She was a member of the unofficial motorcycle gang, The Throttle Hotties, where her nickname was "Swag." She enjoyed going on vacation, especially to the ocean. Shelley made many amazing friends during her time working at GCI. Above all of these interests, Shelley cherished spending time with her family and friends doing something or nothing.
Shelley will be deeply missed by her mother, Annie Allen; siblings, Butch (Julie) Allen, Rusty (Linda) Allen, Gina (Michelle) Lee, and John (Lindsay) Allen; nieces and nephews, Amanda, Ashley, Holly, Jesse, Jamie, Dalton, Shelbi, Ashlin, Hannah, and Wade; four-legged baby, Buster; and everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Allen; and her papa, Doug Snyder.
A special thanks to the staff at Akron General Medical Center on the 4th and 5th floor for all of their kindness, caring, and support.
A Celebration of Shelley's Life will take place on Sunday December 23, 2018 at 3pm at Newcomer 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, with visitation to follow until 6pm.
