Shelva Jean O'Dell

Shelva Jean O'Dell, 86, of Akron, passed away on December 19, 2023. She was born on July 10, 1937 in Quinwood, West Virginia to the late Rollen and Zora Trout. She met and married Clifton O'Dell and they were happily married for almost 60 years before his death in 2013.
They moved to Ohio and raised their family first in Columbus and later in Akron. Shelva was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and provided a wonderful home for her family.
She was a talented seamstress and worked in several high end boutiques throughout her career. She enjoyed reading and gardening.
Shelva was a devout Christian and made lasting friendships at the churches she attended over the years.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Deborah (Edward) Barcelo and Bryan O'Dell; sister, Edith Groves; brother-in-law, Roger O'Dell; Kelley (Akhil) Sharma, Katherine (Andrew) Graham, Kevin (Amy) Barcelo, Hunter O'Dell, LeeAnn (Marty) Lindenberg; great-grandchildren, Bodhi, Kaden, Scarlett, Charlie, Quinn, Weslee, Lilly, Trey, Robert, and two on the way; many nieces and nephews.
Shelva is now reunited with her husband, Clifton; parents, Rollen and Zora Trout; and siblings, Norma O'Dell, Annalee Sparks, and Vernon Trout.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 4-6 p.m. followed by a 6:00 p.m. funeral service with Rev. John Schluep officiating at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. She will be privately laid to rest at Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville, West Virginia.
