Sherman P. Tiggs, 40, went home to be with the Lord on March 6, 2011. He was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and was a resident of Akron for the past 15 years. He was preceded in death by a son, Germaine; and his grandmother, Geneva Alexander. He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Teresa Tiggs; his five wonderful children, Sherman Jr., Deonte, Karlie, Kayla and Kaitlynn; mother, Ernestine Davis; mother-in-law, Karen Randau; father-in-law, Douglas Hartman; grandfather, Garnie Alexander; sister, Semona; brothers, Percy Jr., and Tyrone; 5 brothers-in-law; 2 sisters-in-law; and several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving friends. Sherman was a member of River of Life Church in Greentown, Ohio. Calling hours will be held Thursday, March 10, from 5 to 8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A funeral service will be held Friday, March 11, at 11 am at the Solid Rock Fellowship Church, 10631 Kent Ave., Hartville, with a visitation 1 hour prior, with Pastor Bill Howe officiating. Burial to follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
