Sherry D. Cook
Sherry Diane Cook passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2012 after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Sherry was born on May 17, 1955 in Cincinnati, Ohio. A longtime resident of Akron, Sherry was a graduate of Firestone High School. She was the owner of several successful small businesses including S&S Painting and Cook's Commercial Cleaning. Sherry demonstrated remarkable bravery in the face of adversity and she was an inspiration to all those who knew her. Her kindness, generosity and love for life will long be remembered by those who had the privilege to know her. Sherry's greatest joy came from helping others and she never hesitated to offer her assistance, wisdom and ingenuity to anyone in need. Sherry was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Madeline Cook. She is survived by her father, Tommie Cook; sisters, Debbie (Jim) Buck and Terri Cook; brother, Mark (Cynthia) Cook; six nieces and nephews who adored her, and three great-nieces. The family wishes to extend its deepest thanks to Dr. Mehool Patel and Summit Oncology for the extraordinary care, support and encouragement they extended to Sherry over the last two years. A memorial gathering will be held Friday, February 10, from 1 to 3 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a service will follow at 3 pm with Rev. Arthur Fields officiating.
