Sherry L. Whitacre, 64, of Akron, passed away January 4, 2007 at Akron General Medical Center. She was born November 17, 1942 in Kitzmiller, Maryland to the late Riley E. & Ethel B. (Stewart) Evans. Sherry loved being a grandmother and enjoyed life to the fullest. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Evans. She is survived by her daughter, Kelly (Gary) Wilfong of Weston, Virgina; son, Gary (Staci) Whitacre of Akron; grandchildren, Jonathan, Anthony and Cade; companion of 35 years, Wayne Whitacre; sisters, Betty (David) Paugh of Oakand, Maryland; Janet (Joe) Mongold and Colleen (Thomas) Whitacre both of Akron. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 - 5 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. where funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kim W. Lawrence officiating.
