Shirley Ann Carter, age 69 of Akron passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. A lifelong resident of Akron, Shirley was born on November 22, 1952 to the late Russell Carter and Mary (Miller) {Butler} Buchanan.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her sister Rosemary Fast, brother Buster Buchanan and son-in-law Craig Holbert.
Shirley's memory will always be cherished by her daughters Angela Holbert and Lisa Frank; grandchildren Ashley (Chris) Ketner, Michael Carter, Kailey (Craig) Galanis, Brianna Frank, Christopher Holbert and Riley Frank; great-grandchildren Camden and Hadley Galanis and Emmalyn Ketner; brother Russell (Sue) Carter; sisters Janice (Eddie) Cool and Peggy (Gene) Cool; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Shirley had a big heart, and loved taking care of her family and friends. She was a second mom to many, especially her nieces and nephews, and opened her home to anyone who needed a safe haven and a listening ear.
Friends are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, 44305 on Friday, March 11, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 12:00 p.m., with Minister Nathan Robinson officiating.
