Shirley Ann Goodrich-Scherer

Shirley Ann Goodrich-Scherer, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 after a long and fulfilling life. Shirley was born on August 30, 1940 in Akron, Ohio to Andrew and Peggy Gausman.

Shirley is predeceased by her brother, David Gausman; first husband and father of her children, Ronald Goodrich; and her second husband, William Scherer.

Shirley is survived by her three children, Scott (Rose), Kenny (former wife and mother to his children, Holly) and Jerry (Amy) Goodrich; sister, Michele (Tom) Claflin; grandchildren, Kyle (Kerri) and their daughter, Caroline, Amanda (Nick) Staudacher, Seth, Olivia (her fiancee, Zach Patterson) Huffman and Andrew (his girlfriend, Kathleen Hawley); special extended family, Rod and Gina Harrison and their three children, Alex, Andrew and Austin (his girlfriend, Selena Ryan).

Family and friends are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, OH 44305) on Friday, November 1, 2024 from 11:30am until 1:30pm. 

A Graveside Service will be held immediately following the visitation at Northlawn Memorial Gardens (4724 State Rd., Peninsula, OH 44264) at 2pm. 

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Danbury Woods in Cuyahoga Falls for their excellent care of Shirley over the past 18 months as well as to Suncreset Hospice for their compassionate end-of-life care to not only Shirley, but to us also.
