Shirley Carol Kozy

Shirley Carol Kozy, 85, of Tallmadge, Ohio went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 11, 2023.

Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born in Akron, Ohio and graduated from Kenmore High School in 1955. She was a devoted full time homemaker and mother. Her greatest joy was being a grandma to nine and a great grandma to eleven. Shirley enjoyed being with her family first and foremost.

She loved to read and was a master with any needle. She made dozens of dresses, aprons, sweaters, afghans and knitted many baby caps to be donated to children's hospital wards.

She was a long time member of Brown Street Baptist Church and Hope Baptist Church and served as a deaconess and in the choir. She was currently attending Faith Bible Fellowship in Tallmadge.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James Kozy, parents Stanley and Bridget Lavaco, son Baby Boy Kozy, daughter Carol Ann Kozy, and great-granddaughter Evelyn Grace Kozy.

Shirley is survived by son Jim Kozy (Kim), daughters Diane Mulhollen (David), Patricia Thomas (Doug), and Susan Kozy; grandchildren Stephen Kozy, Jimmy Kozy (Emily), Rebecca Sacramone (Chris), Emily Meiden (Joe), Lindsay Mulhollen-Hines (Brian), Mark Mulhollen (Alexis), Daniel Thomas (Rachel), Leanna Thomas (Elizabeth), Andrew Thomas; great-grandchildren Zachary and Matthew Kozy, Hollis, Elliott, Alaina and James IV Kozy, Olivia and Gavin Sacramone, Andrew, Benjamin and Jonathan Mieden, and one more on the way.

All are welcome to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305 on Thursday, September 21 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September 22 at 10:30 a.m. with Jeremy Music officiating.
