Shirley Mae Loughney

Shirley M. Loughney passed away on September 3, 2023 at the age of 88. She was born in Barberton, Ohio on April 9, 1935 to William and Beatrice Fry. Shirley retired in 2007 after 37 years from Akron Public Schools Central Distribution. She was a member of Akron Freewill Baptist Church. Shirley enjoyed going out to eat, day trips to Amish Country and spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; former husband, John Loughney; brother, William Fry, Jr.; sister, Betty Smith; and niece, Sharon Hubbard.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Cindy (John) Pratt and Paul (Carmen) Moon; and grandsons, Johnny Pratt, Xavier Ortiz and Paul (Gayle) Moon III.

A special thanks to friends, Larry Miller and Ed Lindsay, they were always there for Shirley when she needed something.

The family would like to thank Sunrise Assisted Living staff and caregivers as well as Traditions Health for the excellent care given to our mom.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 from 12pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 2pm.
