Shirley J. Metzger, age 81 of Tallmadge, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Heather Knoll Retirement Village.
She was born on October 8, 1935 in Parrottsville, TN, the daughter of the late Frank and Jessie (nee Rader) Nease.
She liked to play bingo, rummy with the grandchildren, and being with her family.
Survivors include her children, Deborah "Debbie" (Mark) Deering, Bryan (Lori) Metzger, Gary Metzger, and Keith Metzger; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; her siblings, Margaret, Judy, and Roger.
Other than her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Metzger on June 16, 1982; her infant daughter, Sandra Metzger; her siblings, Ruth, Maxine, Frankie, and L.B.
Memorial services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 6:00 PM, where Pastor David Ballert will celebrate Shirley's life. Family and friends may visit two hours prior to the service.
