Shirley A. Putt

December 24, 1936 — November 26, 2022

Shirley Ann Putt (nee Rinsch), 85, went home to the Lord November 26, 2022. Shirley passed to heaven peacefully at Danbury Senior Center, Tallmadge, Ohio after a long illness. Born in Freelandville, Indiana December 24, 1936, Shirley graduated from Freelandville High School in 1954. She then moved to Indianapolis where she worked at the former American Fletcher National Bank. Shirley met her husband Richard Putt at a coffee fellowship at the United Brethren Church in Indianapolis in 1960, while he was in the Army stationed at Fort Harrison. Richard and Shirley reconnected after his discharge and the couple were married in Indianapolis on January 29, 1966. The newlyweds then moved back to her husband's hometown of Akron, where Shirley worked for many years at the former Akron Dime Bank. Shirley loved knitting, crocheting and sewing and she made many blankets, pillows, quilts and baby clothes for family and friends. Her joy of giving, her laugh, and her loving spirit will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Shirley was preceded in death by parents Elmer and Sadie (Outler) Rinsch, brother Harold Rinsch, brother-in-law Robert Putt and nephew Jonathan Putt. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, Richard, sister-in-laws Audrey and Janet Putt and Diane Conrad, brother-in-law Jim Putt, nieces Ruth, Jane and Carol Rinsch, Jenny Smith, Julie Mihuc, Stephanie Gabelman, Jennifer Nash, Gennifer and Courteney Conrad, nephews David Rinsch and David Conrad, and many grand-nieces and nephews.
Shirley and Rich are long-time members of Springfield Church of the Brethren, and have been blessed by the love and support of their brothers and sisters in Christ. A special thank you to staff of Danbury and to Traditions Hospice for the love, care and support they have provided to Shirley and the family.
